MSFT developer leaves to join Google

Marc Lucovsky, a key Windows and .Net architect, has left Microsoft for Google. Yes, it sounds like Microsoft has turned into a slow dinosaur unable to ship the code it still writes; yes, software as a service is a threat; no, Google does not have a secret master plan.

Google's "closely held future plans" (here) - closely held for how many years? Maybe they don't just exist, did you think of that?

Via Search Engine News, Battelle.

In unrelated news, another Microsoft hotshot left the Borg for that web services innovator, Amazon. I'll bet you a million dollars no one will be writing about how Amazon MUST SURELY be creating the world-dominating MSFT-killing web OS. Nor will anyone comment on how positive he seems about Microsoft (well, Mary Jo Foley did, that's how I got my link, but you get my point).

Dave Winer says it is pretty clear that Google is building an OS. I really am wary of contradicting him because Dave is a giant in the industry and I am a gnat (which is not even a proper anagram of giant). But it is not at all clear to me.
